City of Rancho Cordova 5th Anniversary

A summer evening event, held in the City Hall parking lot, was filled with tons of color and excitement for the 5th Anniversary of the City of Rancho Cordova. Two parking aisles easily divided the event activities. On one side a presentation stage and theater style seating accommodated the formalities,; on the other side, the focal point was an 18 person big band stage. A 50’x50’ tent frame was installed to visually designate the entertainment area. Bright yellow Velon hung in swags from the peak to the eave line, with colored panels hanging vertically to the ground behind the stage creating a faux band shell. A 32’x32’ wood dance floor was home to professional costumed dancers and umbrella tables dressed with lime green and periwinkle linens offered great seats for people watching. A 10’x50’ canopy, positioned over catering service tables, drew attention to the barbecue area and navy blue linens indicated condiment tables. The ceremonial finale was a confetti “toast” shot off by Council members from papier maché champagne bottles. Produced by Ingrid E. Lundquist, CSEP, this event has been nominated for a 2009 Gala Award for Marketing from Special Events Magazine.
